With the Omicron variant of COVID-19 causing havoc, the beginning of 2022 isn’t looking like what we maybe might have hoped for. Remember how much hope and expectation we had for 2021?
So, how will we respond?
For almost two years now, due to COVI-19, we have lived with a deeper awareness of the tenuous and fragile nature of our lives on this earth. The alarming increase in murder rates these past two years is also a reminder of how dangerous our city and world is.
In the midst of this, we have a challenge and an opportunity. Will we give into the belief that this tenuous earthly life is all that we have and live in fear, or will our confidence in life eternal give us hope, peace, and courage to live boldly for God in our remaining time on this earth?
So take some time to reflect and meditate on the promise and implications of the gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus in 1 John 5:11-21. May God meet you in his Word and in our celebrations this Christmas season.
Yours in Christ’s love,
